Popular kitchen appliances brand Cosori is recalling two million air-fryers after receiving 205 reports of the air fryers catching fire, burning, melting, overheating and smoking. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall Thursday, urging consumers to immediately stop using the products, which have a wire connection that is prone to overheating, raising concerns the fryers could catch fire and burn or otherwise injure consumers.

Cosori said in a statement that following a “thorough investigation, we determined that in extremely rare circumstances, the closed-end crimp connectors within the recalled air fryers, which are responsible for establishing electrical connections between certain wires, can overheat, posing a fire hazard.”

The agency said it has received 205 incident reports of the air fryers “catching fire, burning, melting, overheating and smoking.” That number includes 10 reports of “minor, superficial burn injuries” and 23 reports of property damage.

Cosori is urging consumers to immediately stop using the recalled air fryers and contact the company for a free replacement. Consumers can contact Cosori at (888) 402-1684 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or online at www.cosori.com and click on “Recall” for more information.

The recalled air fryers were sold at Amazon, Walmart, Target and other stores nationwide and online from June 2017 through July 2020 for between $100 and $140. Consumers should check the model number and date code on the back of the air fryer to determine if their product is included in the recall.
