New York Rep. George Santos is facing increased scrutiny due to revelations that he embellished or invented portions of his biography. Despite pledging to voters that he would explain himself prior to Christmas, Santos has only scratched the surface of the allegations he faces. This has put increased scrutiny on powerful New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, who was a vocal supporter of Santos during his 2022 campaign.
Ken Salamone, who donated $5,800 to Santos’ campaign and more than $20,000 to his joint fundraising committee, said that he would have never donated without Stefanik’s team reaching out on his behalf.
The allegations against Santos have grown considerably since late December. He has given a handful of interviews to local and conservative outlets, including The New York Post, but has yet to address the full scope of the allegations.
In a post on social media, Santos said, “I want to assure everyone that I will address your questions and that I remain committed to deliver the results I campaigned on; Public safety, Inflation, Education & more.”
