At 4:20 p.m., Calhoun was the first deputy to arrive at the scene on Hilldale Lane. A shootout then occurred between the second deputy and the suspect, and Calhoun was found lying in the street suffering from gunshot injuries. He was transported to a hospital in serious condition, but later succumbed to his injuries. The suspect was shot and taken to a hospital where he is in critical condition.
