Nassau County Republicans Select Mazi Melesa Pilip as Nominee for Special Election to Replace Ousted GOP Rep. George Santos

Nassau County Republicans have selected Mazi Melesa Pilip, an Ethiopian immigrant and former paratrooper in the Israel Defense Forces, as their nominee for the upcoming special election to replace ousted GOP Rep. George Santos. Pilip will face former U.S. Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-N.Y.), the Democratic nominee, in the Feb. 13 special election. Pilip has been endorsed by the Nassau County Republican Party and is seen as a competitive candidate in the race for the vacant seat in the House of Representatives.

Former White House Aide Gabe Amo and U.S. Marine Veteran Gerry Leonard to Face Off in Rhode Island’s 1st Congressional District Special Election

Rhode Island's 1st Congressional District special election on November 2nd will see former White House aide Gabe Amo, endorsed by former President Barack Obama and President Joe Biden, face off against U.S. Marine veteran and political newcomer Gerry Leonard. If Amo wins, he will become the first Black person to ever represent Rhode Island in Congress. Both candidates are expected to ramp up their campaigns in the coming days.
