U.S. Army to Honor Pfc. Luther Herschel Story on Memorial Day with Burial at Andersonville National Cemetery

On Memorial Day, the U.S. Army will honor the memory of Pfc. Luther Herschel Story, a Korean War soldier from Americus, Georgia, who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions. Story sacrificed his own safety to cover his company’s retreat, and his Medal of Honor and portrait at the National Infantry Museum will serve as a reminder of his sacrifice and the sacrifices of all who have served. His remains will be buried at Andersonville National Cemetery near his hometown on Memorial Day.

Google Arts & Culture has released a project to mark the 70th anniversary of the armistice between North and South Korea, allowing viewers to take a virtual tour of the 160-mile-long buffer zone between the two countries. The project showcases the 6,168 wildlife species that inhabit the area, including golden eagles, goats, and wild cats, and serves as a reminder of the fragility of the armistice and the need for continued efforts to bring peace and stability to the region.
