North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum has qualified for the upcoming Republican presidential primary debate on August 23rd, having met the requirements of the Republican National Committee. His campaign has offered donors $20 gift cards for $1 donations. South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley has said that if Burgum is not on the debate stage, he is taking the chance that everyone will talk about his record and why he is not on the stage. The first Republican presidential primary debate will take place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Kennedy had initially misunderstood a question posed to him at the Iowa State Fair, but clarified his stance Sunday morning. A spokesperson for Kennedy said that his stance on abortion is “always” being the woman’s right to choose.
Ron DeSantis, the Republican presidential candidate, visited the Iowa State Fair on Saturday, August 12th, 2023, and was met with protesters. Despite the disruption, DeSantis still participated in the traditional activities of a presidential candidate, such as riding bumper cars and flipping a pork burger on a grill. He also discussed the possibility of having Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds as a running mate.
