13-year-old Wyatt Kauffman miraculously survived a fall of nearly 100 feet at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. It took emergency crews two hours to rescue him, and he was airlifted to a Las Vegas hospital with nine broken vertebrae, a ruptured spleen, a collapsed lung, a concussion, a broken hand, and a dislocated finger. Kauffman's family is grateful for his survival and thankful for the emergency crews, and they are hopeful for a full recovery.

President Joe Biden Establishes New National Monument to Protect Grand Canyon Area from Mining and Development

President Joe Biden has announced the establishment of a new national monument, Baaj Nwaavjo I'tah Kukveni — Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon National Monument, to protect nearly 1 million acres of federal lands adjacent to Grand Canyon National Park from uranium mining and other development. The monument will preserve the ancestral land that is sacred to several Native American tribes, protect more than 3,000 mining leases, and help to protect the area’s natural beauty and cultural heritage. It is a major victory for conservationists and Native American tribes.
