Mohave County, Arizona Rejects Hand-Counting Ballots for 2024 Election After Cost and Accuracy Concerns

Mohave County, Arizona, has rejected the idea of hand-counting ballots in the 2024 election, after the all-Republican Board of Supervisors voted 3-2 against the measure. The estimated cost of the hand-counting was over a million dollars, and the Board of Supervisors concluded that the results would be inaccurate. The decision was made despite initial push for hand-counting due to conspiracy theories about voting machines.

San Francisco Board of Supervisors Unanimously Accepts Draft Plan for Reparations for Black Residents

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors has unanimously accepted a draft plan by a panel proposing reparations for Black residents, which includes a one-time payment of $5 million to each eligible Black resident, the elimination of personal debt and tax burdens, guaranteed annual incomes of at least $97,000 for 250 years, and homes in San Francisco for just $1 a family. The plan has met with some pushback from politically liberal San Franciscans, but the Board of Supervisors will meet again in September to discuss the issue.
