Jury Convicts Alex Murdaugh of Murdering His Wife and Son in South Carolina

Alex Murdaugh was convicted of murdering his wife and son in June 2021 after a jury deliberated for less than three hours. Evidence such as a Snapchat video placing Murdaugh near the scene of the crime and a kennel video of the son speaking from beyond the grave sealed his fate. Murdaugh faces life in prison without parole if convicted.

Alex Murdaugh, the father, has been charged with 99 financial crimes related to a scheme to bilk his law firm, clients, and the government out of $9.3 million, and has also been accused of hiring a man to kill him. The investigation into the deaths is ongoing and no suspects have been identified.

Nikki Haley to Announce 2024 Presidential Bid on February 15th in Charleston

Nikki Haley, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and South Carolina governor, is expected to announce her bid for the 2024 presidential election on February 15th in Charleston. This makes her the second candidate for the GOP nomination in 2024 and the first to openly declare against former President Donald Trump. Haley has hinted at a 2024 run and is calling for "generational change" when looking at the future of the country. If she officially announces her candidacy, she will join a growing list of Republicans vying for the party's nomination in 2024.
