He admitted to posing as a top aide to then-House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to raise money for the campaign and enriching himself with 15% commissions on each donation. He also charged credit cards without authorization for contributions to the campaigns and himself. He faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

George Santos (R-NY), has been indicted by a Brooklyn federal grand jury on four counts of wire fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft. The indictment alleges that Miele impersonated a top aide to House leadership while contacting donors for Santos' 2022 election campaign, earning a 15% commission on all donations he secured. The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York has not yet released a statement on the indictment.
