Georgina Beyer, the world's first openly transgender member of Parliament, passed away at the age of 65. She was a tireless advocate for LGBTQ rights and was known for her work in the legalization of civil unions and gay marriage as well as the decriminalization of prostitution. Her death has been met with an outpouring of grief from the LGBTQ community and Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who praised her for her courage and commitment to equality.

Queen Consort Camilla to Re-Use Queen Mary’s Crown for Coronation of King Charles III, Skirting Controversy of Koh-i-Noor Diamond.

Buckingham Palace has announced that Queen Consort Camilla will not wear the Koh-i-Noor diamond during the coronation of King Charles III in May. Instead, she will modify Queen Mary's crown using diamonds from Queen Elizabeth II's personal collection, in order to avoid the controversy surrounding the gem. This will be the first time in history a crown will be "recycled" for a coronation, as the coronation of King Charles III is set to take place in May.

Australia’s Central Bank Announces Removal of King Charles III from $5 Bill, Replaced by Indigenous Design

The nation's central bank announced Thursday that the new $5 bill will feature an Indigenous design instead of an image of King Charles III, following consultation with the center-left Labor Party government. This move is part of a larger trend of countries around the world removing the British monarchy from their bank notes and is a sign of the changing times and a recognition of the importance of Indigenous culture in Australia. The new design is expected to be unveiled in the coming months.
