Taylor Swift was the biggest winner of the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, taking home the top prize for her "Anti-Hero" music video as well as five other awards. Other winners included Karol G and Shakira for best collaboration, Nicki Minaj for best hip-hop, and SZA for best R&B. Taylor Swift also gave a special performance of her song "Midnights" and NSYNC reunited to present her with the best pop video award.

Two Newark firefighters were killed while battling a fire aboard a cargo ship in Port Newark on Wednesday night. The fire had broken out on the 10th floor of the ship, and quickly spread to the two floors above. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and the identities of the two firefighters have not been released. Newark Mayor Ras Baraka expressed his condolences to the families of the two firefighters.
