Seven Republican presidential hopefuls will take the stage Wednesday night in Simi Valley, California for the second GOP presidential debate, while former President Donald Trump will be speaking in the suburbs of Detroit. The debate will be an opportunity for the other candidates to make their case for the nomination, while Trump will be criticizing President Joe Biden's efforts to fight climate change. Moderated by Fox News anchor Bret Baier, the debate will be the second of four before the primaries begin in February.

The United States has expressed deep concern over allegations made by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that India was involved in the June 18 murder of Sikh activist and leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has called for both Canada and India to work together to investigate the possible involvement of New Delhi agents in the murder, and the Indian government has denied the allegations. The U.S. is also calling for a full and transparent investigation into the matter.
Rudy Giuliani, former attorney to former President Donald Trump, has been labeled “America’s Deadbeat” by “Morning Joe” hosts Willie Geist and Joe Scarborough after failing to comply with a federal judge's order to turn over evidence and pay legal fees to election workers he defamed. It remains to be seen what the consequences will be for Giuliani if he continues to ignore the court order, but Scarborough speculated that he could face prison, bankruptcy, or additional charges. The former mayor of New York City has gone from being known as “America’s Mayor” to “America’s Deadbeat” due to his failure to comply with the court order.
The NYPD has discovered a trap door in a Bronx day care center while conducting a search warrant in response to the death of a 1-year-old boy and the illness of three other children. Under the trap door, they found fentanyl, other narcotics and drug paraphernalia. The investigation is ongoing and the day care center has been closed since the incident last week.
Sophie Turner has filed a lawsuit against her ex-husband Joe Jonas in a Manhattan court, alleging that he has wrongfully retained their two young daughters in New York City since September 20. The filing seeks to secure the immediate return of the children to their habitual residence in England and also requests an order of protection and for Jonas to pay Turner's legal fees. The court documents come weeks after Jonas filed for divorce from the "Game of Thrones" star.
Two suspects, Mendez and Brito, have been arrested and are facing federal charges of conspiracy to distribute narcotics resulting in death in connection to the death of 1-year-old Nicholas Dominici at a day care facility in New York City. Police found a kilogram of fentanyl in the day care, enough to kill 500,000 people, and it is unclear how the child was exposed to it. The investigation is ongoing and the suspects are due to appear in court later this week.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is visiting the Capitol on Thursday to meet with senators and discuss the Biden administration's request for $13.1 billion in additional military funding for Ukraine. Congress is divided on the issue, and the meeting is an opportunity for senators to discuss their views with Zelenskyy before he meets with President Biden at the White House.
