Navy veteran Richard Osthoff has accused newly elected Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) of fraudulently raising funds for his service dog's lifesaving surgery and then disappearing with the money. Osthoff believes access to the $3,000 donation pot would have saved his dog's life, and veterans and animal rights activists are now calling for an investigation and demanding that Rep. Santos be held accountable for his actions.

The costume and party supplies chain Party City has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, and is in the process of an expedited restructuring that will substantially lower its debt and free up cash. The company's 800+ stores and website will remain open, and its franchise stores, subsidiaries outside of the U.S., and foil balloons Anagram business are not part of the restructuring. The filing comes as the U.S. retail industry continues to suffer from persistently high inflation and a pullback in customer spending.
Two members of the University of Georgia football program, Devin Willock (20) and Chandler LeCroy (24), were killed in a car crash early Sunday morning in Athens, Georgia. Two other members of the football program were also injured. The UGA Athletic Association expressed their condolences, saying they were "devastated" by the news. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
