NASA's Astromaterials Research and Exploration Science (ARES) Lab was able to calculate the "strewn field" where fragments of the meteor might be found near Calais, Maine. In response, the Maine Mineral & Gem Museum has announced a $25,000 reward for a kilogram of the meteorite and is asking anyone who witnessed the fireball to remember its path and contact them if they find any fragments.
Rutgers faculty and staff unions representing 9,000 members are set to strike on Monday, making it the first educator strike in the university's history. The strike will impact full-time and part-time union employees, and is in response to demands for salary increases, improved job security for adjunct faculty, and guaranteed funding for graduate students. The unions are willing to continue negotiations in order to reach a fair agreement, but the strike is set to begin Monday morning.
