Eric Montross, Beloved Member of UNC and NBA Community, Passes Away at Home Surrounded by Loved Ones

Eric Montross, former University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and NBA big man, passed away on Sunday after being diagnosed with cancer in March. He was a beloved figure in the North Carolina basketball community, having been part of the 1993 National Championship team and a radio analyst for UNC game broadcasts. The family requested donations to the Eric Montross Scholarship Fund at UNC and asked for privacy during this difficult time.

Ja Morant Suspended 25 Games Without Pay for Second Gun-Related Incident

NBA guard Ja Morant has been suspended for 25 games without pay due to a second incident of displaying a firearm on social media. The suspension, which will cost Morant approximately $7.5 million, is intended to send a message that gun violence will not be tolerated. Morant, who was the 2019-20 NBA Rookie of the Year, will have the opportunity to return to the court after the suspension is over.

Cavaliers Mourn the Loss of Nick Gilbert, Son of Owner Dan Gilbert, at 26 Years Old

The Cleveland Cavaliers have announced the death of Nicolas “Nick” Gilbert, the son of owner Dan Gilbert, due to complications related to neurofibromatosis 1. Nick was diagnosed with NF1 as a child and was best known for his role as the Cavs’ good luck charm during several NBA Draft Lotteries. The Cavaliers organization expressed their condolences to the Gilbert family and thanked Nick for his “unrelenting spirit” that was a “driving force” behind the team.
