Mickey Mouse Enters the Public Domain, Prompting a Flurry of Creative Activity from Independent Creators

The copyright protection for Mickey Mouse has expired, allowing independent creators to capitalize on the iconic character. This has resulted in two horror films, "Mickey's Mouse Trap" and "The House of Mouse," and a video game, "Mickey's Mansion," all set to be released later this year. The new works will feature Mickey Mouse in a horror setting, and are a result of the quick remixing and recycling of intellectual property in the digital age.

Fire Breaks Out at Disneyland During Performance of ‘Fantasmic!’ Show, No Injuries Reported

On Saturday night, a fire broke out at Disneyland during the "Fantasmic!" show when a large animatronic dragon became engulfed in flames. Anaheim Fire and Rescue personnel assisted the Disneyland Fire Department in extinguishing the fire, and about 1,000 people were evacuated from the area. No guests or visitors were injured in the incident, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
