A Buffalo man has been sentenced to 50 months in prison for forcibly removing the badge and radio of a Washington, D.C. police officer during the Capitol siege on Jan. 6, 2021. Judge Amy Berman Jackson noted that the attack was an assault on the institutions of democracy, and ordered the defendant to pay $1,000 in restitution to the officer.

Daniel Rodriguez, a California man, was sentenced to 12.5 years in prison Wednesday after pleading guilty to four felony counts related to the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, including assaulting a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon and conspiring to stop Congress from certifying the 2020 presidential election results. U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson described him as a "one-man army of hate" and he will have to pay $96,000 to cover medical treatment for the officer and $2,000 in restitution for the destruction of the Capitol. The Justice Department has charged more than 400 people in connection with the attack.
Daniel Rodriguez of Fontana, California pleaded guilty to four counts, including conspiracy, obstruction of an official proceeding and tampering with documents, for using a stun gun to attack a Washington, D.C. police officer during the US Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. The attack resulted in five deaths and numerous injuries, and Rodriguez is the first person to be convicted of using a dangerous weapon to injure a law enforcement official during the riot. He faces up to 20 years in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced in September 2021.
