U.N. Security Council Approves Multinational Force to Combat Gang Violence in Haiti

The United Nations Security Council voted to approve a multinational force to be sent to Haiti to combat extreme gang violence. Kenya has committed to sending 1,000 security personnel and the force is expected to include personnel from Jamaica, Barbados and several other nations. Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry thanked the U.N. Security Council and other countries who agreed to join the force, expressing hope that the mission will bring stability and security to the region.

Reggae Girlz Make History, Advance to Round of 16 in 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup

Jamaica's national women's soccer team, the Reggae Girlz, made history on Wednesday by advancing to the knockout round of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup. The team's captain, Khadija "Bunny" Shaw, shared emotional words with Brazilian soccer legend Marta, and thanked the team for pushing forward despite being knocked down. The Reggae Girlz are the first Caribbean team to qualify for the Round of 16 in the Women's World Cup, and their success has been celebrated around the world.

Usain Bolt Demands Return of Over $12 Million from Private Investment Firm Under Investigation by Law Enforcement

Usain Bolt is seeking the return of more than $12.7 million from a private investment firm in Jamaica that is currently under investigation by law enforcement. His lawyer has sent a letter to the firm demanding the return of the money, and Jamaican law enforcement has been alerted to alleged fraud at the firm. It is not yet known if the missing funds were stolen or misappropriated, or if Bolt will be able to recover them.
