A meteor fragmented over northeastern Massachusetts Saturday afternoon, causing a sonic boom and tremors. NASA confirmed the fireball broke apart at 40 miles altitude, releasing energy equivalent to 300 tons of TNT.

On Sunday, eight passengers, including seven children, were left hanging upside down for three hours after a mechanical error stopped the Fireball ride at the Forest County Festival in Crandon, Wisconsin. Rescuers were able to bring all of the passengers down safely, and the ride has been shut down for the remainder of the day while the organizers investigate the cause of the mechanical failure.
