A 41-year-old Washington, D.C. government employee has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of 13-year-old Karon Blake earlier this month. George Tanios pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and entering and remaining in a restricted building. Judge Thomas Hogan said that he did not know what had motivated Khater to push his way through the crowd.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has called on House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to lead the way in crafting a solution to the looming debt ceiling deadline, with the Treasury Department warning of economic calamity if the US does not act by June 5.
