Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine called for abolishing the death penalty, reversing the position he held when he helped write the state’s 1981 capital punishment law. He said the punishment no longer deters murder and urged lawmakers or voters to repeal it.
Ethan Boyes, a 10-time national champion and world record holder in the 1,000-meter time trial, was tragically struck by a car while cycling in San Francisco's Presidio National Park and later died in hospital. USA Cycling and the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition have expressed their sadness at the loss of Boyes, and the U.S. Park Police are investigating the incident with a $10,000 reward offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the driver responsible.
