Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol, the eldest child of Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn, has died at 47 after more than three years in hospital. A lawyer and former diplomat, she was known for work on criminal justice reform and women prisoners’ rights.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul has announced that a person of interest has been taken into custody following antisemitic threats made at Cornell University. The Anti-Defamation League reported a nearly 400% increase in reported incidents of antisemitism since the start of the conflict in the Middle East. In response, Gov. Hochul has taken steps to combat antisemitism on college campuses in New York, including increased security measures, increased training for faculty and staff, and the creation of a task force.
Cornell University has responded to a series of threatening messages targeting its Jewish community by condemning the "horrendous, antisemitic messages" and warning that the school will not tolerate antisemitism. The university has dispatched campus police to the Jewish center and notified the FBI of a potential hate crime, and is providing support services for anyone affected. President Martha E. Pollack has also stated that the university is deeply committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all members of its community.
A recent study from Cornell University has revealed that the number of work stoppages in the US has increased significantly in the past year, with 424 work stoppages of all sizes in 2022, up from 279 the previous year. This increase is indicative of a tight labor market, as workers take advantage of the situation to press employers for better pay and working conditions. Miller, a Teamsters Local 230 member, led one of these strikes, with 230 of his coworkers, in order to press their employer, Sysco, for better pay and working conditions.
