Brendan Banfield, a former IRS law enforcement officer, was sentenced to life without parole for the 2023 killings of his wife, Christine Banfield, and Joseph Ryan. Prosecutors said Banfield and the family’s au pair used a fetish website to lure Ryan to the home as part of a murder scheme.
A federal judge blocked Trump administration policies that halted decisions on asylum, green cards, work permits and citizenship for many immigrants from 39 travel-ban countries. The judge said USCIS acted unlawfully and left applicants in “indeterminate legal limbo.”
