Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) has denied allegations that he was the mastermind behind a credit card skimming operation in 2017, as stated in a sworn declaration by his former roommate Gustavo Ribeiro Trelha. Santos claims he is innocent and that Trelha provided him with the materials and taught him how to put skimming devices and cameras on ATM machines. The FBI and other federal law enforcement officials are currently investigating the allegations against Santos.

House Chief Administrative Officer Catherine L. Szpindor informed recipients of the breach in an internal memo and warned them that their data may have been compromised. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has granted Fox News host Tucker Carlson access to 41,000 hours of Capitol surveillance footage from Jan. 6, prompting Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to warn of "grave security risks" to members of Congress and those who work on Capitol Hill. Schumer has urged McCarthy to reconsider his decision, as the footage contains closely held information about Capitol security that could compromise the safety of the Legislative Branch.
The Pentagon has released details on an unidentified flying object shot down in Canadian airspace, which was a "small, metallic balloon with a tethered payload below it." China has reported that high-altitude balloons belonging to the United States had flown over its airspace without permission more than 10 times since early last year. Lawmakers are pressing the Biden administration for more information on the objects and if they posed any threat to the United States or its allies.
