Virginia Senator Tim Kaine announced on Friday that he will be running for a third term in 2024, after grappling with an eight-year commitment at age 64. Kaine has been in politics for 30 years and is younger than many of his Senate colleagues, including President Biden who is 16 years older. Kaine said he has been honored to serve people as a missionary, civil rights lawyer, and elected official and looks forward to continuing to serve the people of Virginia for another term.

The Justice Department is taking a hard stance on the mishandling of classified documents, appointing special counsels to investigate both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) believes that both should be treated “exactly the same way” and that Garland “probably did the right thing by having two special counsels.” Trump is also facing a special counsel for multiple investigations, and it remains to be seen how the Justice Department will handle the investigations.

Lawsuit Alleges Sexual Battery, Defamation, and Conspiracy Against Matt Schlapp and Wife Mercedes Schlapp

A Republican operative has filed a civil lawsuit against Matt Schlapp, chairman of the American Conservative Union, and his wife Mercedes Schlapp, seeking $9.4 million in damages. The plaintiff, who worked as an aide to Georgia Republican Senate nominee Herschel Walker, alleges that Schlapp sexually assaulted him during a car ride following a night of drinking.
