Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz has agreed to testify before a Senate committee investigating allegations of union-busting leveled against the coffee chain. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has been a vocal advocate for workers' rights and has recently released a book on Social Security and the future of jobs. The Senate panel was set to vote Wednesday to subpoena Schultz if he did not willingly agree to testify, but with Schultz now agreeing to appear, the vote is no longer necessary.

The Justice Department has informed the Senate Intelligence Committee that it is actively working to brief lawmakers on the potential risks to national security posed by the discovery of classified documents in the possession of both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. The Department is working with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence to provide information without harming the ongoing Special Counsel investigations, and has a policy of maintaining the confidentiality of such information. The Biden administration has taken steps to ensure that all documents are properly secured and that personnel have the appropriate security clearances, but the potential risks to national security remain unclear.

Despite Controversy, Rep. George Santos Appointed to Two House Committees by House Republican Steering Committee

Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., has been appointed to the House Science, Space and Technology Committee and the Small Business Committee, despite facing multiple investigations and calls to resign from fellow Republicans. The House Republican Steering Committee, led by Speaker Kevin McCarthy, voted to give Santos the slots on the two lower-profile panels. Despite the controversy, House Republicans have decided to keep him on board, assigning him to two committees.
