Barack and Michelle Obama opened the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago’s Jackson Park, a 19.3-acre campus combining museum features with community spaces. The ceremony drew former presidents, foreign leaders and major musical performers.

The Obama Presidential Center was dedicated Thursday in Chicago’s Jackson Park with performances, dignitaries and a public watch party. The campus opens its museum to the public Friday and includes exhibits on American history, the Obamas’ lives and the 2008 campaign.
President Joe Biden will be joined by 26 special guests at his first State of the Union address, including Rock star Bono, a 26-year-old who disarmed a gunman in California, and Holocaust survivor Ruth Cohen. The guests represent issues the administration has confronted in the past year and will serve as a reminder of the administration’s accomplishments and the issues that still need to be addressed. Vice President Kamala Harris has invited Ruth Cohen to be her guest.
