President Joe Biden has called for new protocols and safeguards to protect against foreign espionage and surveillance in response to the U.S. military shooting down a Chinese spy balloon off the coast of South Carolina. The search for two other unidentified objects shot down near Alaska and the Great Lakes region have concluded with no sign of debris. The Navy, Coast Guard and FBI have collected all of the balloon's debris, which could reveal what information it was able to monitor and collect.

On January 6, 2021, supporters of former President Donald Trump attacked the US Capitol. According to court filings, Trump attempted to call into Fox News after the attack, but the network refused to put him on air. Fox News host Lou Dobbs opened his show with musings on the election results, asking how Biden had received 15 million more votes than Obama, and saying they did not expect to get an answer to it that night. The House select committee is still investigating the attack, and it remains unclear if they will ever get an answer to the question.

White House Physician Declares President Joe Biden “Fit” to Execute Duties of the Presidency Following Routine Physical Exam

President Joe Biden has been declared "fit" to conduct his duties as president following a routine physical exam on Thursday. White House physician Kevin O’Connor released a five-page memo stating that Biden, an 80-year-old male, remains "healthy and vigorous" and is fit to successfully execute the duties of the presidency. The physical included an “extremely detailed” neurologic exam, as well as a biopsy of a small lesion on Biden’s chest, with results still pending.
