Elizabeth Gilbert Postpones Publication of Novel “The Snow Forest” After Backlash from Ukrainian Readers

Elizabeth Gilbert has announced the indefinite postponement of her novel "The Snow Forest" due to backlash from Ukrainian readers and their supporters. Gilbert, author of the 2006 memoir "Eat, Pray, Love," expressed her regret for any hurt her book may have caused and her commitment to listening to the Ukrainian people and finding a way to honor their stories and experiences. The novel was set in Siberia in the 20th century and told the story of a group of individuals who resisted the Soviet government and tried to defend nature against industrialization.

Legendary Brazilian Singer-Songwriter Astrud Gilberto Passes Away at 83

Astrud Gilberto, the Brazilian singer, songwriter and entertainer, has died at age 83. She became an overnight superstar in 1964 with her off-hand English-language vocals on the classic bossa nova album “Getz/Gilberto”. Her voice became the face of bossa nova and she released over 20 albums in her five-decade career, receiving numerous awards including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. She is survived by her daughter, Bebel Gilberto, who is also a singer-songwriter.
