Joseph David Emerson, 44, has been indicted on 84 charges in Portland, Oregon, including 83 misdemeanor counts of recklessly endangering another person and one felony count of first-degree endangering aircraft. The incident occurred on October 19th when Emerson, a former Alaska Airlines pilot, allegedly attempted to shut off the engines of a Horizon Air flight while under the influence of "magic mushrooms" and struggling with depression and lack of sleep. He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday on the 84 endangerment charges.

Dino Rojas-Moreno, a 26-year-old bartender from Southern California, has been arrested and charged with murder after allegedly beating 27-year-old Tatum Goodwin to death with a fire extinguisher in an alleyway near her place of work. Court documents suggest that Rojas-Moreno attacked Goodwin in a parking lot around 1 a.m. and dragged her to a secluded area behind a movie theater, where he beat her with the fire extinguisher. Rojas-Moreno is currently being held in Orange County Jail without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on October 21st.

Ten members and associates of the Gambino crime family have been arrested and charged with 16 counts of racketeering conspiracy, extortion, witness retaliation, and union-related crimes. Former Memphis police officer Desmond Mills Jr. pled guilty to federal and state charges on Thursday for the beating death of Tyre Nichols. As part of a larger agreement, Mills agreed to plead guilty to excessive force and obstruction of justice, and to act as a cooperating witness in both federal and state investigations. Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., was hit with 23 additional charges Tuesday, including allegations of identity theft and fraud, according to federal prosecutors in the Eastern District of New York. The charges allege that Santos and his former campaign treasurer, Nancy Marks, used individuals' personal credit card information to make unauthorized charges in support of his political campaign and submitted false financial reports to the FEC. If convicted, Santos could face up to 20 years in prison.
