House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) is facing criticism from members of the House Freedom Caucus over a budget deal he struck with President Joe Biden. Members of the group are considering using a motion to vacate the chair, which would allow any member of Congress to force a vote to remove the speaker, as a way to pressure McCarthy to allow members to amend the bill. Tallahassee Classical School Principal Resigns Following Controversy Over Art History Lesson

Hope Carrasquilla, the former principal of Tallahassee Classical School, resigned this week after parents complained about a lesson on Michelangelo's statue of David. The school board chair said Carrasquilla did not follow procedure and was asked to either resign or be terminated. The school board has not yet named a replacement and is looking into the incident to determine if any further action is necessary.
