India has become the fourth nation to successfully land an operational spacecraft on the moon, and the first to reach the south polar region. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) was able to make history by becoming the first country to reach the lunar south pole, with the Chandrayaan-3 lander heavily instrumented and carrying a small rover. The successful landing of the Chandrayaan-3 has been celebrated in India, boosting the country's space program to the level of "space superpower."

Russia and India have launched lunar missions, with Russia's Luna-25 craft taking off from the Vostochny spaceport on Friday. Air India is mobilizing additional support at the San Francisco International Airport to assist the hundreds of passengers and crew who were stranded in Russia due to an engine problem. The replacement flight is expected to arrive at 12:15 a.m. local time Thursday, and Air India is providing meals and refreshments on board, as well as medical care, ground transportation, and onward connections upon arrival.
Air India flight from New Delhi to San Francisco was forced to make an emergency landing in Russia due to a technical issue with one of its engines. Air India is working to send a replacement aircraft to Russia, but the cause of the engine failure and when the passengers will be able to reach their destination is still unknown.
