A newly-released body camera video shows the man accused of fatally stabbing four University of Idaho students being pulled over for allegedly running a red light about a month before the killings. The video, which was obtained by the Idaho Statesman, shows Washington State University campus police stopping Bryan Kohberger on October 14, 2022, in Pullman.
The video shows WSU Police Officer Isobel Luengas parking her vehicle behind Kohberger’s 2015 Hyundai Elantra in a parking lot. She then approaches Kohberger and asks for his license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance. During the nearly 10-minute video, Officer Luengas informs Kohberger that he drove through a red light.
After a brief discussion, Officer Luengas decides to issue Kohberger a warning instead of a ticket. She then returns to her vehicle and Kohberger drives away. This incident occurred approximately one month before the fatal stabbings of four University of Idaho students.
Kohberger is currently facing four counts of first-degree murder and four counts of aggravated battery in connection with the stabbings. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges. The trial is scheduled to begin in October 2022.
