Actress Selma Blair was arrested after an incident aboard a Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles to New York on Sunday night that left two flight attendants injured, authorities said. One attendant was taken to a hospital, and Blair was transported for medical evaluation.

Port Authority Police responded to Delta Flight 938 after it arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport around 11 p.m. The Port Authority described the call as involving a “physically abusive passenger.” A law enforcement source told CBS News that one attendant was bitten, the other suffered a laceration and the crew restrained Blair during the flight.

The FBI is investigating what it described as “a potential assault aboard the flight.” A law enforcement source told CBS News that the FBI was charging Blair with two counts of assault. The BBC, citing the FBI’s refusal to comment further, reported that it was unclear whether she would face charges.

Blair, 54, was taken to Jamaica Hospital for evaluation, according to CBS News. The outlet reported, citing a law enforcement source, that she allegedly kicked a Port Authority police officer while in an ambulance and assaulted a nurse at the hospital. CBS News reported that Blair remained in custody and that her service dog, which had traveled with her, was in the custody of her attorney.

“Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition,” Blair’s attorney told CBS News. Her publicist gave the BBC the same account.

In air traffic control audio cited by CBS News, the pilot asked for medical personnel to meet the plane, reporting “a bloody nose as well as some bite marks.” The pilot also said the disruptive passenger appeared to have hit her head on a bulkhead and might need to be checked.

Delta said law enforcement responded when the flight arrived and that the incident did not affect flight operations. “Delta has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior, as the safety of our customers and crew always comes first,” the airline said.

Blair has appeared in “Cruel Intentions,” “Legally Blonde” and “Hellboy,” and competed on “Dancing with the Stars” in 2022. She has spoken publicly about her multiple sclerosis diagnosis in 2018. The BBC reported that she said in 2021 that the disease was in remission.

The BBC also reported that Blair apologized after a separate incident on a flight in 2016, saying she had accidentally mixed medication with alcohol. “I made a big mistake,” she said at the time, adding that she was “truly very sorry.”
