Carla Jeffery, the actor known to Disney Channel audiences as cheerleader Bree in the “Zombies” movie franchise, has died at 33.
Her manager, Carla Alexander, announced the death Wednesday night in a statement posted to Jeffery’s Instagram page. The statement said Jeffery died Sept. 1, 2026. No cause of death has been given, the BBC reported.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Carla Jeffery, who passed away on September 1, 2026, at just 33 years old,” the statement read.
Alexander said Jeffery had joined Alexanders Talent Management when she was 12 and remained part of the company’s roster for more than 20 years.
“For more than 20 years, we had the privilege of watching her grow into a beautiful, vibrant, and incredibly talented woman whose radiant smile could light up any room,” Alexander wrote. “Carla was more than a client; she was family.”
In a separate tribute posted by Alexanders Talent, the company said its “hearts are broken” and remembered Jeffery’s “infectious smile, her laughter, her talent, and the beautiful light she carried everywhere she went.” The statement asked that her family and loved ones be given privacy.
Jeffery’s best-known role came in the 2018 Disney Channel movie “Zombies,” where she played Bree. She reprised the role in the franchise’s 2020 and 2022 sequels and voiced the character in the animated series “Zombies: The Re-Antimated Series.” Alexander’s statement said Jeffery “shared her joy, humor, and bright spirit with audiences around the world.”
Her credits also included children’s television roles on Disney Channel and Nickelodeon shows such as “iCarly,” “Good Luck Charlie” and “Shake It Up,” according to her IMDb page. She also appeared in 10 episodes of “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” The BBC reported that she had a recurring role on the HBO comedy as one of the Black family, who moved in with Larry David after Hurricane Katrina.
Tributes from family and co-stars followed the announcement.
Milo Manheim, who played Zed in “Zombies,” shared photos and videos with Jeffery on Instagram, writing, “Love you Carlaboo. The sweetest, kindest, most loving person.” Trevor Tordjman, who played Bucky Buchanan, wrote, “Carla, you will be missed. Will never forget your energy. Truly one of a kind.”
Chandler Kinney, who played Willa in the franchise, wrote that Jeffery’s death “doesn’t feel real.”
“Carla. The sweetest, most sparkly gal. You made every day better and brighter with your infectious positivity,” Kinney wrote, according to the BBC. “I think part of why you brought such effervescence to Bree (aside from your immense talent) is because that’s really who you were in your heart; a bubbly, vivacious heart-of-gold cheerleader who loved nothing more than to uplift those around her.”
Jeffery’s twin brother, actor Carlon Jeffrey, also shared memories of his sister online. He posted an image of her and said she was “truly a light that shines bright.”
“You are the best sister a brother could ask for,” he wrote. “Pray we continue to grow closer to one another along this journey. I got your back in this life and the next.”
