Ira Cronin, a spokesperson for the Colorado Springs Police Department, said at a news conference Sunday that the fight “appeared to be a bit of a fistfight” before gunfire broke out. As a result of the altercation, one man was found dead inside the mall and two other adult males were taken to local hospitals in serious condition.

The police department said they detained multiple people and are working to determine their involvement in the incident. Cronin said that “all it appears to be is two groups of people who were having a disagreement that got physical.”
