Former President Donald Trump was arraigned in federal court on Thursday on charges related to his actions after the 2020 election. CNN’s Kaitlan Collins reported that Trump was irked by being referred to as “Mr. Trump” during the proceedings.

In response, federal prosecutors have asked the judge overseeing the case to bar Trump from publicly disclosing some of the evidence gathered during the investigation. The proposed order seeks to prevent the improper dissemination or use of discovery materials, including to the public.

Attorneys with the special counsel Jack Smith’s office have requested that U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan ensure that sensitive materials are used by Trump’s defense team for trial only, and that the former president view the materials in the presence of his lawyers.

The request for a restriction is particularly important in this case because Trump has previously issued public statements on social media regarding witnesses, judges, and other matters related to the case.

Despite the charges, Trump insisted that it was a “great honor” to be arraigned in federal court. Collins noted that Trump is still referred to by his former title, President Trump, when he’s at his Bedminster golf club in New Jersey or at Mar-a-Lago.
