HBO’s ‘Succession’ Leads the Pack with 27 Nominations for the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards

The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations were announced on July 12, with many of the top contenders from the past year vying for the coveted awards. Leading the pack of nominees is HBO’s “Succession” with 27 nominations, followed by “The Last of Us” with 24 nods and “The White Lotus” with 23. Apple TV+’s “Ted Lasso” came in fourth with 21 nominations.

The announcement was hosted by Yvette Nicole Brown, of “A Black Lady Sketch Show” and “Community,” and Frank Scherma, who chairs the Television Academy. It comes at a tense time for Hollywood, with the Writers Guild of America strike that has been ongoing since May.

The strike has put a halt on many productions and it’s unclear if it will have any impact on the Emmy Awards ceremony. In addition, it’s uncertain if the production of television will soon go on as scheduled.

“Succession” has been a frontrunner in the Emmy Awards for the past two years, and this year is no exception. The show’s final season has earned 27 nominations, making it the most nominated show of the year.

The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards will take place on September 19, 2021. Viewers will have to wait and see which of their favorite shows will take home the coveted awards.
