House Judiciary Committee Subpoenas Former New York County Special Assistant District Attorney Mark Pomerantz in Investigation into Former President Donald Trump’s Finances

The House Judiciary Committee has issued a subpoena to former New York County Special Assistant District Attorney Mark Pomerantz, who had previously led an investigation into former President Donald Trump’s finances. Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, sent a letter to Pomerantz last month asking for his testimony in order to investigate the prosecution of Trump by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

In the accompanying letter, Jordan said that Pomerantz was “uniquely situated to provide information that is relevant and necessary” to the committee’s investigation. Pomerantz had resigned from the Manhattan DA’s office in 2022 and said in his resignation letter that Trump was “guilty of numerous felony violations” in connection to his annual financial statements. He resigned one day after Bragg informed him that he would not be charging Trump with any crimes.

Jordan’s subpoena comes after Pomerantz publicly criticized Bragg for not charging Trump sooner. The House Judiciary Committee is now seeking Pomerantz’s testimony in order to investigate the prosecution of Trump by Bragg.

The subpoena is the latest development in the ongoing investigation into Trump’s finances. It is unclear at this time what information Pomerantz will provide to the committee, or what the outcome of the investigation will be. However, the subpoena is a sign that the committee is taking the investigation seriously and is committed to getting to the bottom of the matter.
