The recall includes ready-to-eat sandwiches, salads, yogurts, wraps and other products sold in nine states and Washington, DC, from January 24 through January 30.
The recall was initiated after the company’s environmental samples tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes, according to Fresh Ideation Food Group’s recall announcement. Breakfast sandwiches, salads, wraps, fruit cups, parfaits are among the products made by Fresh Ideation Food Group that were recalled Friday, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
Eating Listeria-contaminated food can cause a serious infection that can lead to symptoms including fever, headache, diarrhea and vomiting, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Pregnant women, newborns, older adults and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of serious health complications from Listeria infection.
Consumers are advised to discard any recalled products or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
