At least five people were killed and several injured in a shooting in the Jewish neighborhood of Neve Yaakov in east Jerusalem on Friday night. According to the Magen David Adom emergency service, three people were taken to a hospital in addition to those killed.

The shooting followed a deadly raid by the Israeli military in the occupied West Bank on Thursday, which killed nine Palestinians and a tenth later north of Jerusalem. Police said the shooter was killed at the scene and five people were declared dead.

The Israeli military said the raid in Jenin was carried out to prevent an imminent attack and included a 61-year-old woman and seven militants. The attack in east Jerusalem, which was annexed by Israel in the 1967 Arab-Israeli war, was the deadliest Israeli raid in the West Bank in decades.
