Do everything you can to stay in power,” Kinzinger said during an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union”.

Kinzinger, a member of the Jan. 6 committee, added that Trump’s actions were “problematic from a presidential perspective, from an oath perspective” and that “if this is not a crime, I don’t know what is.”

The Justice Department has yet to make a decision on whether or not to charge the former president. Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung has previously called the panel a “Kangaroo court” that “held show trials by Never Trump partisans who are a stain on this country’s history.”

Kinzinger, who decided against seeking reelection, believes that if a president is not held accountable for inciting an insurrection, then “there’s no limit to what a president can do or can’t do.”
