Mobile Police responded to a shooting on the 200 block of Dauphin Street in downtown Mobile on Saturday night, just 45 minutes before midnight. The shooter and the person killed appeared to know each other, according to Mobile Police Chief Paul Prine. The other victims, ranging in age from 17 to 57, were transported to the hospital with injuries ranging from non-life threatening to severe. Despite the tragedy, the event continued on with fireworks and a moon pie dropping from a downtown building at midnight to mark the start of 2023.
