Pilot Escapes Unharmed After WWI-Era Plane Crashes and Flips Over at American Heritage Museum in Stow, Massachusetts

On Sunday morning, a World War I-era Nieuport 28 aircraft crashed and flipped onto its roof while attempting to land at the American Heritage Museum in Stow, Massachusetts. The pilot, the only occupant, was able to remove himself from the plane without injury and was evaluated at the scene as a precaution. An initial investigation found that the plane's front landing gear failed while the pilot was attempting to land. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Two former fighters of the Russian private military company Wagner have spoken to CNN about their experiences on the battlefield in eastern Ukraine, where they described horrific losses in “first wave” assaults reminiscent of World War I. Ukrainian forces have responded to the shelling with counterattacks, and have managed to down five drones and capture two former Wagner fighters. Despite the shelling, officials in Kyiv said that Moscow is having trouble launching its large-scale offensive in the east of the country.

Madonna May Lend 19th-Century Painting to Amiens in Support of City’s European Capital of Culture Bid

The mayor of Amiens, France has requested that Madonna lend them a 19th-century painting, "Diana and Endymion" by Jerome-Martin Langlois, which was lost during World War I. Madonna purchased the painting in 1989 for $1.3 million and the city hopes that she will lend it to them in order to help their chances of becoming European Capital of Culture. The painting has a special significance to Amiens, as it was once part of the city's cultural heritage.
