Miraculous Journey of Survival Completed by 1-Year-Old Australian Shepherd Nanuq

Mandy Iworrigan's 1-year-old Australian shepherd, Nanuq, embarked on a 150-mile journey across the frozen Bering Sea ice and was eventually returned to his home safe and sound. After being separated from his family in Gambell, Alaska, Nanuq's disappearance was noticed by people in Wales, 150 miles away. After a month of searching, Iworrigan was overjoyed to learn that Nanuq had been found.

Tragedy Strikes Remote Village of Wales, Alaska as Polar Bear Kills Woman and Boy

On Tuesday afternoon, a polar bear entered the remote village of Wales, Alaska and chased multiple residents before mauling and killing a woman and a boy. The bear was shot and killed by another resident as it attacked the two victims, and the Alaska State Troopers and the Alaska Department of Fish and Game are working to travel to the area. The incident is currently under investigation and the identities of the victims have not yet been released.

He was renowned for his extraordinary dribbling skills and larger-than-life personality, and was honored by Time magazine as one of the "100 Persons of the Century" in 1999. His legacy will live on, as he served as a Goodwill UNICEF ambassador, promoting peace and support for vulnerable children. His daughter Kely Nascimento wrote in a post on Instagram: “Everything that we are, is thanks to you. Thank you for everything.” Rest in peace, King.
