Russian Forces Launch Missile Attack on Kyiv, Ukraine; All Missiles Intercepted

On Monday morning, air raid sirens sounded in Kyiv, Ukraine and explosions rocked the city. Ukraine's chief of staff reported that 11 ballistic and cruise missiles were fired at Kyiv at around 11:30 a.m. local time, but all of the missiles were intercepted and shot down. The attack is the latest in a series of escalating tensions between Ukraine and Russia.

Ukraine is preparing for a possible counteroffensive against Russian forces as tensions continue to rise, with Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, hinting at the possibility and Ukrainian military chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi releasing a video brandishing the country's intention to destroy the enemy. On Saturday, a 41-year-old man was killed and a 35-year-old woman was hospitalized when debris fell on a seven-story nonresidential building and started a fire, while Serhii Popko, a senior Kyiv military official, reported the city was subjected to the largest drone attack since the start of Russia's war.

Ukrainian Capital of Kyiv Attacked by Russian Missiles, General Zaluzhnyi Reports

Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief General Valeriy Zaluzhnyi reported that the capital of Kyiv was attacked by anti-aircraft guided missiles from the north on Saturday. The Ukrainian defense forces managed to intercept and destroy 18 cruise missiles and three guided aircraft missiles, with two-thirds of the Russian missiles fired at Ukraine being intercepted. This attack is the latest in a series of escalations between Ukraine and Russia, with the United Nations calling for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
