After a two-week long rescue effort, all 41 construction workers trapped in a collapsed mountain tunnel in India’s northern state of Uttarakhand have been successfully rescued in a well-coordinated effort by multiple agencies. The workers were pulled out through a hand-dug tunnel, and were greeted by the Chief Minister of the state upon their rescue. India’s transportation minister expressed his relief and happiness at the successful rescue, noting the importance of safety in the workplace.
