Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board Files Lawsuit Against Walt Disney World in Response to Disney’s Lawsuit Against Governor DeSantis

The Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board has voted to sue Walt Disney World in state court in response to Disney's lawsuit against Governor Ron DeSantis and the board. The board is attempting to maintain its oversight of design and construction in the district that governs Disney World's 25,000 acres, and is also defending itself in federal court in Tallahassee, where Disney's lawsuit was filed. The ongoing political feud between Disney and DeSantis has been escalating since the governor's takeover of the district, and the board's lawsuit is the latest move in the dispute.

Former Walt Disney World Employee Arrested and Charged with Video Voyeurism

A former Walt Disney World employee, Jorge Diaz Vega, has been arrested and charged with video voyeurism after being spotted by a witness shooting a video up an 18-year-old woman’s skirt. Vega allegedly told investigators he had done it more than 500 times over the past six years. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have been a victim of Vega’s voyeurism to come forward and Walt Disney World has expressed their shock and disappointment at Vega’s alleged behavior. Vega is currently being held in the Orange County Jail on a $2,000 bond.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Announces Plan to Take Action Against Walt Disney World in Retaliation for Company’s Opposition to State Takeover

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has announced a plan to take action against Walt Disney World in response to the company's opposition to a state takeover of its special taxing district. This includes building a prison or a competing theme park near the Magic Kingdom, as well as raising taxes on Walt Disney World. The feud between DeSantis and Disney began in March 2022 when Disney CEO Bob Chapek issued a statement opposing DeSantis-championed legislation.
