US Department of Justice Reaches Agreement in Principle to Settle Sutherland Springs Mass Shooting Lawsuit with $144 Million Settlement

The US Department of Justice has reached an agreement in principle to settle a lawsuit over the 2017 mass shooting at a Sutherland Springs, Texas church, providing victims and their families with more than $144 million from the US Treasury’s Judgment Fund. The settlement, which does not require congressional approval, is subject to approval by the US District Court for the Western District of Texas and would be the largest ever paid out of the Judgment Fund and the largest settlement ever paid in a mass shooting case.

Libyan Man Pleads Not Guilty to Charges in 1988 Pan Am Flight 103 Bombing Attack

Abu Agila Mohammad Mas'ud Kheir Al-Marimi pleaded not guilty to three charges in a US federal court on Wednesday in connection with the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, which killed 270 people. The US Department of Justice has been investigating the attack for more than 30 years, and Mas'ud is the fourth person to be charged in the case. A jury trial has been requested, but the date has not yet been set.
